Michael Roman

While I find most of his pillows are too graphic for my taste, like Goldilocks, I find the "Girl Walking" pillow to be juuuuust right. Available at Modurn Design House for $59.00. Enjoy!

Sarah Jones Ceramics
Sarah Jones creates these beautifully textured lamps and vases by impressing fabric and wallpaper into porcelain. She incorporates steel dress making pins into the clay to fasten the forms. I think they're beautiful. You can purchase them here.

Informal Formalities...

The Crown Hill Dinner Plate, available at Watts Contemporaries, was inspired by a sketch of a peacock drawn by Keith Murray, Watt's resident designer during the Late 1940's and 50's, yet how appropriate it is for today.

Make Up The Wall

Make Up The Wall, a design concept by Maria Kirk Mikkelsen, combines the use of aluminum stencils and stickers as a means of expressing yourself on your own painted walls, in much the same way a graffiti painter would. The layout is up to you. Keep it simple, or cover the wall. You simply paint the wall in your favorite color. Place the template on the wall and draw around it using both markers and crayons. You can keep it an outline or fill in as you wish. There are 5 different designs to choose from. Check out the site and see the different designs. If you can't locate a retailer near you (which pertains to all those living in the US) you can contact them directly via their email at mail@makeupthewall.com. Enjoy!

Caprice Sofa at Pier I

Pier I just recently came out with the Caprice sofa. The line also includes a handsome chair and ottoman. Priced at $999.00, this seems like a great buy. I love the lines and the style but I do wonder how comfortable it will be. If anyone sits on it before me please let us know how it rates.

Pure Nomade...the hotel for your shoes

Pure Nomade of Denmark has come up with a stylish way to store your shoes...the "Hotel" box. The "Hotel" box is made of fine quality paper ware. You buy them collapsed and sealed in plastic and when ready to use you fold them into boxes, zip them with a pair of rubber bands, and they are ready to go. You can stack them or even set them up as shelves. A clear dust lid is snapped into place through the front opening, protecting the shoes while displaying them at the same time. The patterns are great and add a touch of design to your closet storage system. You don't even have to store shoes in them. I love this idea. You can read more about Pure Nomade via their website . If you wish to purchase, the boxes are available at All Purpose 144 South Flores Street, Los Angeles, CA. I don't know if they will accept mail orders but you can contact them through their blog, which provides an email address, and ask. For those readers living across the pond, Pure Nomade is available via BOX-de-LUX . Enjoy!

Massey & Rogers Urban Garden

Okay. I'll admit it. I have a bird fetish. But with designs like these how can you blame me? Massey & Rogers is comprised of the design duo of Barbara Massey and Helen Rogers. Their designs, inspired by both nature and the industrial landscape, come across as modern, yet retro. Recycling features strongly in their work. In addition to using natural yarns and fabrics, they also use old newspapers, comics, and plastic carrier bags in their woven designs. I think these ladies are a pair worth keeping an eye on. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Here Birdie Birdie...

I love these individual bird calls avavilable at Canoe. "Carefully hand crafted by a small company in France, each of the wooden calls accurately duplicates the songs of birds in the wild, and comes packaged in its own wooden box with sliding lid." It is available in five different calls: the Mallard Duck, Morning Dove, American Robin, Nightengale, and Skylark. This is the perfect gift for a young boy or girl. A great way to get them outside. I know my kids would love it. Enjoy!
