Shadow & Light
My first "painting a week". I obviously (hopefully) chose to go abstract/naturistic. Laugh, cry, roll over in your grave or enjoy, it's up to you. I think next week's will be an industrial/retro subject. Thanks for all the suggestions. :)

The Art of the Unexpected
Lady Di turned me on to Interior Internet and I have to say I love this chair. It's so couture. Rather pricey, but ooohhh. You know you could easily create your own. Find the right chair at the right price (local flea markets are a great source) have the back covered in solid leather and the seat covered in a print with a hue that mimics the back. And if you want to take it all the way, paint or stain the front legs a dark wooden color and the back legs gold leaf. Be inspired!

Quirky is good.
Etsy seller artquirk has some great original architectural landscape paintings up for grabs and the prices will make you blush with guilt. "Rooftops in Prague" is an original gouache and acrylic ink painting measuring approximately 11.5" x 8" going for $40.00. "Dandelion Clocks" is a print from an original measuring approximately 9" x 7" on quality card stock ready to be framed at the great price of $10.00. And last, but not least, "Summer House" is an original gouache and acrylic ink painting measuring approximately 8" x 12" priced at $25.00. Enjoy!

You know what they say about little pitchers...
They make a big impact. This apple tree ceramic pitcher by Georg Schmider is so cute you just want to pinch it. It's currently up for grabs on EBAY with a starting bid of $9.99 and 5 days left of bidding. Enjoy!

On your mark... get set....
Go! Rachel Austin is a popular etsy seller and today she has put up a new piece of work that I had to blog about. Entitled "Zippel", this mixed media painting is right up my alley. It's a 6" x 6" piece priced at $50.00 and just too cute to pass up.

Everything's coming up roses...

Revisiting Mary Burr, I noticed she has a new linocut up, Roses and Dandelions . Image is 8" x 10" and paper is 9" x 12". For $15.00, that's a steal.

Light Bulb Moment...
Literally. Cool light bulbs via Habitat . I believe you have to buy a specific lamp base for use, but wouldn't it be neat if they could make regular light bulbs in such a fashion? Especially energy efficient light bulbs. Such a neat idea with endless possibilities.

Volksware
Interesting pieces by Volksware I ran across while browsing Designboom. First up, discarded tables have been assembled to form an infinitely long table. On request, a piece of table will be sawed off to the desired length for each individual customer. In like form, a carpet/tapestry composed of the clothing one would use during a lifetime. Creative and interesting concepts. An interesting site to browse. Enjoy!

My apologies

for my absence yesterday. I got consumed by this painting a day thing, which is now a painting a week thing (I think). Please keep your eyes tuned to the design links. I have many new blogs to add which I think you all will enjoy immensely. I hope to get them up over the weekend. In the meantime, I wanted to share this digital print by Etsy seller ladybird. She has such an individual style. I love it. Enjoy! (I have become an Etsy addict. Something we'll all have to get used to :)

Stylin and Profilin
I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll, a little bit West Elm and a little bit Pottery Barn. I'm sharing these pictures with you as a source of inspiration. Mainly, the wall arrangements above the bed. I love the unexpected, and these two non-traditional displays set me off. While requiring a bit more time, and many more holes in the wall, they add a huge wallop of character and style.

Need Your Help
I often get stymied and stumped. I want to keep my creative juices flowing and I need your help. I'm tempted to try this "painting a day thing" (although I know full well I lack the discipline to complete it) and I need ideas...specific ideas of things to paint. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanking you for your assistance in advance. :)

Fashion Plates

One of my favorite things to draw/doodle when I was a kid was Fashion Plates. Perhaps that is why I am so fond of these illustrations by etsy seller ladypage. I wish I had a place to put them or I'd grab them up myself, but since I don't, I thought I'd share them with you. Enjoy!
