The color purple is on the horizon as a major trend in colors for 2008. When most people think of purple they either think "Prince" or "bleckkkk". But purple, if used appropriately, is so classy. Both of the rooms below, designed by Purple Design , contain hues of the color purple and are great examples of how purple can be done with taste. I, personally, consider gray to be a hue of purple. I know we're all still adjusting to the recent trends of greens and blues and yellows, but just so you're prepared, be on the look out for P-U-R-P-L-E. :)

Spring Cleaning...
I have some chores to do today so my posts will be spread out. In the meantime, I'll suggest a few things you might want to put on your "to do list".
First, preorder Helen O'Neill's book Florence Broadhurst: Her Secret & Extraordinary Lives from Amazon for $16.47. This book tells the tale of the mysterious and fascinating life of Florence Broadhurst and the details surrounding her unsolved murder. If that's not enough to reel you in, it also showcases more than 100 never-before-published patterns and prints.
Second, for those of you in the USA lusting over the Canadian magazine that is Chocolat, you too can subscribe to this wonderful magazine. You can either do it direct through the magazine's website via an email request, or you can order right here through Amazon. (Hint, the latter is cheaper.)

Bookcase Redo

I've been working on the bookcase redo and am making steady progress. I need to purchase some books/items for the obviously empty shelf (and get a frame for my Matte Stephens piece). But overall, I have to say it looks a hundred times better than before. The color coded books make me giddy. I'm embarrassed to say that I actually thought it looked swell before (being the minimalist addict that I am) until I took a picture and studied the piece in isolation. As a result, I decided to take photographs of all the areas in my home where I had "design doubts". For me, this trick really works. My tip of the day? If you have an area of your home that troubles you, take a photo. I truly believe this will show you the obvious flaws and help you to easier recognize what needs to be tweaked. :)

Wary Myers via Terramia. Pay close attention to the stump bedside tables. My favorite. Love the painted entryway and how it makes the door disappear.

Inspiration for the Day
A couple of images I collected from a Polish website. I would give you more background, but I don't speak Polish. ;) Talk about murals, this one is the mother of murals and I think it's fantastic. Enjoy!
