BHG - Colonial Style...Kickin' it up a notch.

I love Better Homes & Gardens online piece for Colonial "Chic". Some really simple DIYs that can cross over into other design genres as well.

I really love the alternative use of ceiling medallions as wall art. Painted in graduated color schemes, this project is for the masses. I can imagine an installation over one's bed that would be an easy wow factor to install.

Love this silhouette drawer pull stencil. So easy.

Add a little pizazz to a lampshade with yarn.

And how gorgeous are these yarnballs displayed in glass cylinders? A perfect pairing.

And how about all of grandma's vintage crewel work? Put them to use in a simple modern frame displayed casually on a shelf. Eye catching.

Be sure and check out Architectural Depot and their large selection of ceiling medallions.

Remember, etsy has a large selection of hand-dyed yarns available in any color imaginable. Shown below is Knittydirtygirl's mustard seed.

And if you're short on vintage crewel work be sure and check out Wool and Hoops contemporary crewel kits. Nothing like making your own.

Be sure and check out BHG for more innovative ideas. Enjoy!

Concetta Gallo

for Habitat. So cool. I'd love to see more of her work.

Jane Alderdice

Jane Alderdice is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design. She lives in Toronto. This piece is part of a miniature series she refers to as the “shield” project. It is composed of Washi Paper. In the full-scale series, each shield is approximately 1 m x .5 m in size, a size approaching a real shield. This piece was created for the Textile Museum of Canada's Shadow Box Silent Suction. I love the texture of this piece. Would love to attempt to recreate it in a shadowbox of my own. Enjoy!

Listen to the Ocean...

Maybe I have a thing for barnacles lately, but how about this whale print from Orange Willow? $20.00 right here. Enjoy!

Kids shouldn't get to have all the good stuff. I can totally see this Green Chick pillow from jamtartbaby on a chocolate brown couch in country chic room. And at $15.00, it's a totally affordable accessory amongst all your grownup cushions. Perhaps she'll make it in a bigger size soon. :)
