February's Artist/Designer of the Month

Jessica Gonacha is a young artist living in Atlanta Georgia.

She was born to a doll-maker-turned-gallery owner mother and a carpenter who-could-build-anything-for-his-daughter father, and she felt it in her bones that she was to be an artist from the time she was a tiny girl. She spent her childhood in Boulder, Colorado, where she grew and nurtured her passion for making art until she left for Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York in 1998. Her continued devotion to art led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2002, and she graduated with the highest honors. She now resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where she is avidly pursuing her career as a contemporary artist and designer.

In the future, Jessica plans to become involved in illustrating for magazines and other publications, as well as designing patterns and images for use as textiles, homewares, and more. She would also love to write and illustrate a children's book.

Jessica plans to offer many more prints in her etsy shop in the coming months, as well as a calendar for 2009.

Jessica is always updating her flickr page and blog with new images and information about shows she is doing.

She has a few shows coming up:

*MINT Gallery here in Atlanta opening February 9 from 7-11 pm.

*She has 3 pieces in the Lovely Hearts show at Artstream Gallery

*She will be in a 3 person show at Artstream Gallery in April, details to come.

For those interested in more information about Jessica and her work you can contact her here!

Thanks to all who submitted. I received some awesome emails with incredible work, all of which will be eligible for March's Artist/Designer of the month. I'm so excited. So please, if you're interested in entering the monthly contest and want to know how to enter and what it entails read more about it here.

Thanks and enjoy!

I came across this photo by Mikael Dubois, a fabulous photographer out of Stockholm, and simply said "wow". This table setting is breathtaking. I love the trough of sand down the middle of the table with the decorative "beach grass" inserted therein. It's so creative. I hope you are inspired. :)
