Well, its just my opinion, but their art is mass manufactured. I think anyone with half and imagination could come up with something just as clever. Or, spend the same amount of money at their own local galleries. Not everything is pricey.
Of course their art is mass produced, but many of their pieces come from incredibly talented artists. Take Robert Charon, for instance.
Most large gallery pieces are pricey. And remember, these pieces were created by someone whose work hangs in a gallery.
Yes, it does take away from the original's value, but it offers great art to the masses, which I am all about. :)
I agree, just because it is mass produced, does not make it less beautiful. How many times have the great Masters work been reproduced? Many cannot afford to spend thousands for a piece of original art, and many original pieces of art that cost many dollars, are in fact a case of "The Emperor Has No Clothes". Just rubbish. No real talent or not something the average chimp could not do on a slow day. Sadly we tend to want to follow trends, and if someone tells us it is "In" or trendy, we may spend money for it , when it really has no value. The joy something brings to your life is it's worth. If it cost a nothing ot cost millions, has no bearing. If it can be mass produced so many of all socio economic levels can afford to experience it's beauty and receive joy, then HURRAY!!!!!!
Blessu
Well, this stuff appeals to me. I like it. That its mass produced doesn't much matter to me. Not that I don't like the idea of supporting local artists, I just don't have the funds to do that all the time.
i like i like. some of us can't afford much at all! i'm looking for a piece of art to put on a prominent wall and i can't afford much at all. these are affordable, at least! i'd love to be buying originals from local artists but like sheila said, i can't afford much. i did buy a couple of $25 prints but they're TEENY!
Wow I love that meadow painting.
yeah i love the meadow one best too! but then of course, the room/colour/items surrounding it make the picture pop! :)
Drey,
That's the problem I've been having with original art. I appreciate art and love to own originals, but a 6" x 6" just isn't going to cut it for impact in a room.
