In our quest to find the perfect "warm but bright gray" paint for anony, several readers with personal experience chipped in. Thanks to all for their much appreciated two cents. Below is a visual summation of the colors in one grouping. Hopefully this will be helpful to others, including myself, who are considering painting a room gray. Enjoy!

Oh, nice job of sorting them out. I've been looking for a silvery gray for my bathroom and SW Aloof Gray looks perfect (of course, it's not on the walls yet---the true test!) I also have yellow in this room and MS Soapstone reminds me of the wall that the yellow medallions hung on, on yesterday's post---so of course I'll have to check that out too... :) Painting is so much like coloring---how to pick just one?!?
Thanks Jane. I Think Aloof Gray may be my favorite as well. I think it's the warmest without being the darkest.
There are so many shades of gray. ;)
I was the one who suggested Silver Fox, but I also used Revere Pewter in my house, in the halls. It was a bit blah when I tried it out in the living room; much lighter than you'd expect from the swatch. They do make a sample pot of that, and I don't know if they make one of the Silver Fox, but the greys were all REALLY hard to judge from swatches and were completely different on the wall. I need to get some good shots of the room when it's not really dark out.
Would love to see the photos Kate. If I remember, Becoming Home's Revere Pewter had a strong silver tint to it.
"Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter" and Martha's look a lot alike! At least on my screen! lol
And that's my fave :)
You know what janick, I went back and pasted one partially over the other and they are exactly the same. :) I wonder how close they are in the real world?
ben moore edgecomb gray in a flat finish! gorgeous... just the right amount of taupe in the gray... still bright.
You never want to use a flat finish on your walls. Each touch shows and is impossible to remove without repainting. Actually, there are no WARM shades of Grey, that is an oxymoron. Grey is a cool color. Never warm.... NO matter what anyone says, or the trends or the times. Have a blessed day :)

I agree about the edgecomb, anony.
Blessu, I would have to disagree with you here. Grays such as the Edgecomeb that have a hint of taupe, are warm. No reason to use caps here. We can all have our own opinion. :)
Also love the warmth of the Edgecomb Gray. Thinking of using it on my shutters, in fact...
behr - sterling. light, clean
behr - pewter mug. darker, rich.
Sure we can,,

I used Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter in my closet alcove. It's beautiful. I might do my entire bedroom in the color.
Here's a question. I'm putting in a new kitchen and want to have charcolly gray painted cabinets. Any recommendations? I'll have lots of light in the kitchen. And, the floors will either be hardwood or limestone.
Kathleen,
To clarify, are you wanting recommendations for charcoal paint colors?
Thanks,
Julie
I love BM Stonington Gray, have used it in two apartments and everyone who sees it loves it and wants to use it -- it's a truly neutral (not greenish, purplish, bluish, brownish) mid-range gray that looks great with every other color.
I'd love a recommendation on a color for the cabinets, but it might be easier to suggest something once the room is framed and the windows are in. The windows face north, but there will still be good light.
